12.08.2016 - We are saddened to hear of the loss of our group alumna Cindy Stowell, Ph.D. 2005. While a Ph.D. student Cindy studied aspects of colloidal nanocrystals. Cindy stayed in Austin following her graduation, working as a science content developer for Sapling Learning. Recently, Cindy achieved her dream of appearing as a contestant on Jeopardy

03.02.2015 - Christian Alan Bosoy successfully defends his dissertation entitled "Modeling of Gold Nanocrystal Assemblies in Superlattices and Vesicles, and the Synthesis of Nanocrystals for Low-Temperature Solar Cell Fabrication" He has accepted a job as a Business Intelligence Developer at Epic. Congratulations Dr. Bosoy!

02.17.2015 - Jackson Stolle successfully defends his dissertation entitled "Low Cost Processing of Copper Indium Di Selenide Nanocrystals for PV Devices." He has accepted a job as a process engineer at Maxim Integrated. Congratulations Dr. Stolle!

11.23.2012 - CHEMIE.DE/CHEMEUROPE.COM have published an article highlighting the work the group has done in conjunction with Cornell in fabricating the first ordered arrays of silicon nanocrystals. The new self-assembled arrays were first presented in ChemPhysChem.

9.12.2008 - Dr. Brian Korgel received the Roy-Somiya Medal of the International Solvothermal and Hydrothermal Association. It is named after the two patrons of this society. This is the first award from ISHA given to a Young Scientist in the age group below 45 years. The Roy-Somiya Medal was presented to Brian along with a citation at the ISHA-2008 Conference held in Nottingham, UK during Sept. 08-10, 2008.
